In Colorado, Children’s Hospital revealed it now faces a second federal investigation into its gender-affirming care, part of an RFK Jr.–led effort to probe providers over “anomalous billing.” Trans women in ICE custody, meanwhile, describe sexual assault, abrupt hormone cutoffs, and prolonged solitary as the administration scraps Obama-era detention protections.

The electoral machinery is running in parallel: seven anti-trans ballot initiatives across five states would subject schoolgirls to “sex verification” and bundle care bans with abortion repeal, while Rep. Nancy Mace’s “Gender Delusion Disqualification Act” would bar anyone diagnosed with gender dysphoria from security clearances and federal jobs.

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico told Fox News he’d back a national ban on trans surgeries for minors, Elon Musk’s America PAC is dropping $100 million on anti-trans attack ads even against Democrats who’ve already moderated, and Trump himself called trans sports “one of our great sound bites of all time.” In Utah, Equality Utah drew fire for endorsing Republicans over out LGBTQ+ Democrats, including one who voted to force trans students into birth-sex dorms.

The news I was perhaps most heartened to see this week: in Canada, the Saddle Lake Cree Nation declared itself a safe haven from Alberta’s under-16 gender-affirming care ban, invoking Treaty rights and Indigenous sovereignty to recruit doctors and refuse compliance on their unceded lands.

In the UK, the government rejected UN experts’ warning over its single-sex spaces guidance, while in Northern Ireland the Rainbow Project pushed back on “misleading” claims that a conversion-practices ban would criminalize ordinary family conversations.

Turkish authorities arrested 162 people in coordinated anti-LGBTQ+ raids. In Australia, the High Court refused Giggle’s final appeal, ending the landmark Tickle case against the “female-only” app that excluded a trans woman.

And a new Outright International report found 90 percent of LGBTQ+ groups worldwide have lost funding since January 2025, most citing the Trump administration’s gutting of USAID and PEPFAR.
